Building a culture of cyber safety in Australian small businesses
Australian small businesses face cyber security threats every day. The belief that being small makes you safe is a dangerous fallacy that leads to inaction on cyber safety.
The Cyber Wardens research, released in March 2024, investigated attitudes and mindsets, organisational culture, technical skills, and everyday cyber-safe habits – from almost 2,100 Australian small businesses.
The research provides evidence around cultural and technical competencies and deep insights into what motivates cyber behaviour inside small businesses. It allows us to provide education and support to develop a path toward a cyber safe culture amongst Australian small businesses.
Key findings from the research demonstrate that the factors that drive the preparedness of small businesses against a cyber attack are far more complex than the size, age or type of business.
